Back In Time - Exclusively at Gotta Pixel

I have been expanding the challenges I complete at various sites.  I found "Back In Time" in the Special Monthly Project section at Gotta Pixel.  My first layout is for the month of July.  I went back to Sept. 5, 2012 for my photos.

I call the layout Webs.  We've lived in this house for 20 years and I never saw this before, nor have I seen it since.  For me, being petrified of spiders, this was very scary. I had nightmares for days that the spiders were slowly encasing our home.

I have some very exciting news!!  I am working with Jen C. Designs CT team as a guest through the end of October!!  I have always loved Jen's templates and now I am finding her kits to be just as awesome!

The first kit I played with was Pirate Party which is available at Pickleberrypop and part of the Pickle Barrel!   There is a one-click $6 offer for those wanting to buy all of the Pirate Party kits.  By doing so, you receive an add-on alpha.  Here are previews of the 6 parts to Pirate Party. Each pack is linked to its own page at Pickleberrypop. The second alpha is linked to the 6 Pack Offer!

Pirate Party: Elements
Pirate Party: Add On Alphas 1
Pirate Party: Mini Patterns
Pirate Party: Patterned Papers
Pirate Party: Solid Papers
Pirate Party: Chunky Patterns

Take the 6 Pack offer and you also receive a second add on alpha!  Sweet!
Pirate Party: Addon Alpha 2

I really would love to share the layout I created with this fun kit.  I call it Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirate's Life For Me!

Join me for the MouseScrappers Template Challenge #187 (7/20 to 8/2)

Hope you'll join me for another Template Challenge at MouseScrappers!!  The template has been donated by Connie Prince.  Here is a preview:

Click on the preview to go to MouseScrappers Template Challenge #187

The rules are simple:
1. The layout must be Disney related or from a nearby park.
2. Please post your layout in the Template Challenge gallery and in the appropriate forum thread.
3. Please post your layout in this thread along with a link to the appropriate forum thread.
4. Have fun scrapping!!

As you can see, the arrows guide the eye through the series of photos.  When you are working on your template, I would like for you to keep this in mind... and place the photos accordingly.  Use the area to journal a little... so we all understand what is happening.  I am working on getting the PAGE format link posted.

Finally, here is my interpretation of the template. I have used the kit Renaissance Man from Connie Prince and the font is Euphoria Script.

Don't forget to stop by Connie Prince's Blog on Sunday, July 21st.  There will be another trivia question posted. Last Sunday's trivia contest was too easy. This week, I will be talking about the Main Street Windows!

Make A Luxury Handbag and Earn A Gift Card!

I just love Leo and Mary from SVG Cuts.  They are totally awesome.  And they LOVE their fans.
Right now, they have some inspiration for their fans to create one of Mary's recent releases "Luxury Handbags SVG Kit".

If you click on the image, you will go to the page and will be able to the description and individual photos.  I really do like that gift card bag!

Anyhow, not only will SVG Cuts give you a $6.99 gift card just for making the purse, they give you the SVG file  FREE!!  It's like giving us a free kit!!

I was puppy sitting and wasn't able to do my purse until after the kids got back from vacation.  Then I set about to create my luxury handbag!! Remember, deadline is July 12, 2013 at 12:01 AM CDT.  Wow.. that's actually tonight!  Whew! Glad I finished!

I decided against using the fringe. I grew up in the 60's and 70's...  and if I never see fringe again, it's okay with me!  LOL  That said...  I ended up making three purses.  The first one is to get a feel for the kit.  Get my mistakes out of the way hopefully!!

Mary's tutorial video (those are awesome if you never watched one, click to view the tutorial for the purses) suggests putting the brads in before you close up the bottom so you can put your hand through the bottom.  I found it really awkward to try and open the brads from the bottom (Maybe my hands are too stubby?) so I actually did all three from the top. It worked for me!   And glue. Let's talk about that for a minute.  I learned about the glue Mary uses watching her videos.  So I bought some. And it's really great glue.  But I swear... I make such a mess with it. Worse than a kid.  (One day, I will get the perfect amount to dispense down pat!)  By the time I got to the third purse, I set the glue aside and used my beloved tape runner.  The big pink 3M one you see at craft stores.  That is one tool I could never live without!  Anyhow, I used my tape gun on all the flaps necessary before assembling any.  I am apparently far better dealing with taped flaps than glued ones.  LOL.  For me, it works.  I have yet to have a gift container fall apart this way, but I guess there is always a first time.

My supplies were as follows:
Front purse(left):  Papers for the two purse layers from the DCWV "The Shimmer Stack".  For the other two layers, I used paper from the DCWV "Serenity Stack".  I stacked up three paper flowers from my Creative Memories stash and a lovely dark purple gem for bling in the center of the flower. The reason my flower is where it is on the bag is so I can tuck the flap under the flower and it stays closed, thereby making the perfect small gift container!   This was purse #2 and I was still using the Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.

Back purse (right): All papers for this purse came from K&Company Black & Ivory Fusion.  I found a black button with braided design on top in my stash, broke off the back so I could attach it to my purse using those glue dots.  Again, the flap tucks under the button to stay closed.  I like this closure better since it allowed more of the decorative strip to show.

Oh come now. You should know that I scrap everything!   So after I took my photo, I made a layout using Remember Me from Indigo Designs.

You can download your free SVG file here and the official upload form is on the same page. But hurry! Time is running out on this promotion.  Here are the promotion details:

Even better!  I asked Leo if we were able to use the Gift Card in conjunction with the free kit weekly offers.  I didn't think that would happen.. but Leo said YES! You can use your gift card can be combined with FREEGIFT.  Awesome!!

Scavenger Hunt

I completed the Scavenger Hunt at Scraps N Pieces tonight.  Karen Diamond of Karen Diamond Designs is the Featured Designer  until July 15th.  She has lined up some fun and games for everyone to participate.

The last release from Karen Diamond Designs is  A Love Long Ago.  The kit has such a vintage feel.  I thought I would take this opportunity to share with you two layouts I created using this lovely kit.  I can't decide which is my favorite!

Funny thing about the photo of my parents.  I went into my picture tub to locate some photos for scanning.  When I saw this one, it made me smile and think of "Gigilo Joe" from Artificial Intelligence. I showed it to my husband and even he agreed there was a small resemblance.

As Featured Designer, Karen Diamond Designs products are 40% off!  Great savings!!    I have linked the image of A Love Long Ago Bundle to Karen's store.  But don't stop there!  Be sure to check out her Commercial Use Store as well!  Remember - EVERYTHING is on sale 40% through July 15th!!

There is still plenty of time left to complete the activities and receive your coupon to her store!!
