Make A Luxury Handbag and Earn A Gift Card!

I just love Leo and Mary from SVG Cuts.  They are totally awesome.  And they LOVE their fans.
Right now, they have some inspiration for their fans to create one of Mary's recent releases "Luxury Handbags SVG Kit".

If you click on the image, you will go to the page and will be able to the description and individual photos.  I really do like that gift card bag!

Anyhow, not only will SVG Cuts give you a $6.99 gift card just for making the purse, they give you the SVG file  FREE!!  It's like giving us a free kit!!

I was puppy sitting and wasn't able to do my purse until after the kids got back from vacation.  Then I set about to create my luxury handbag!! Remember, deadline is July 12, 2013 at 12:01 AM CDT.  Wow.. that's actually tonight!  Whew! Glad I finished!

I decided against using the fringe. I grew up in the 60's and 70's...  and if I never see fringe again, it's okay with me!  LOL  That said...  I ended up making three purses.  The first one is to get a feel for the kit.  Get my mistakes out of the way hopefully!!

Mary's tutorial video (those are awesome if you never watched one, click to view the tutorial for the purses) suggests putting the brads in before you close up the bottom so you can put your hand through the bottom.  I found it really awkward to try and open the brads from the bottom (Maybe my hands are too stubby?) so I actually did all three from the top. It worked for me!   And glue. Let's talk about that for a minute.  I learned about the glue Mary uses watching her videos.  So I bought some. And it's really great glue.  But I swear... I make such a mess with it. Worse than a kid.  (One day, I will get the perfect amount to dispense down pat!)  By the time I got to the third purse, I set the glue aside and used my beloved tape runner.  The big pink 3M one you see at craft stores.  That is one tool I could never live without!  Anyhow, I used my tape gun on all the flaps necessary before assembling any.  I am apparently far better dealing with taped flaps than glued ones.  LOL.  For me, it works.  I have yet to have a gift container fall apart this way, but I guess there is always a first time.

My supplies were as follows:
Front purse(left):  Papers for the two purse layers from the DCWV "The Shimmer Stack".  For the other two layers, I used paper from the DCWV "Serenity Stack".  I stacked up three paper flowers from my Creative Memories stash and a lovely dark purple gem for bling in the center of the flower. The reason my flower is where it is on the bag is so I can tuck the flap under the flower and it stays closed, thereby making the perfect small gift container!   This was purse #2 and I was still using the Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.

Back purse (right): All papers for this purse came from K&Company Black & Ivory Fusion.  I found a black button with braided design on top in my stash, broke off the back so I could attach it to my purse using those glue dots.  Again, the flap tucks under the button to stay closed.  I like this closure better since it allowed more of the decorative strip to show.

Oh come now. You should know that I scrap everything!   So after I took my photo, I made a layout using Remember Me from Indigo Designs.
